Voting and Election Process

· All candidates are to give a short speech regarding their respective positions that they are running for. Speeches should not exceed 5 minutes for executive positions and 3 minutes for other positions. After the speech given by the candidate, the floor will be opened for questions. The candidate will have to answer a maximum of two questions (one from the floor and one from the committee)

· For positions with only one nominee, the person will still have to present his/her speech to convince the voters that he/she is capable to handle the position.

· There will be a total of  34 votes. The allocation of the votes is such:

Outgoing MASCA Act Committee  - All outgoing committees (13 votes)

The Malaysian Students’ Organization (MSO)  - 7 votes

Malaysian Community (MASCOM) - 7 votes

University of Canberra Malaysian Club (UCMC) - 7 votes

· Affiliated clubs must have their representatives present on the AGM. Proxies are not allowed. If any of the voters selected were not to be present, their votes will not be considered.

· Voters are encouraged to read the candidate statements that will be published on Thursday, 20th of October and prepare your questions that you wish to bring forward. Questions put forward must be precise, concise and related to the position that the nominee is running for. This is to maintain order and give a sense of respect to the meeting.

The final draft of the General Report and Financial Statement will be forwarded to members on Thursday (20th of October) for scrutiny. Members can then make any queries or corrections to them. We will be accepting these notifications via email until 5.00 p.m. Friday, 21st of October. (to be updated for the AGM)

MASCA ACT would like to encourage all Malaysians to attend the Annual General Meeting. We welcome you to be a part of future committee, in the effort to create a greater Malaysian community here in ACT.

All the best and good luck for your upcoming exams and elections!
